The Samsung Transform promises to be truly transformative as a well-designed Android smartphone with a highly affordable price. The current version of the Transform is Android 2.1, but Sprint plans on an upgrade to Android 2.2 in the future according to CNET.

The phone features a slide-out keyboard like the Epic 4G which old school users still prefer. The capacitive touch screen has a 3.5 inch diagonal with an overall handset size of 4.6 inches in height by 2.4 inches in width and 0.6 inches deep. The 5.4 ounce phone has rounded corners and the finish is glossy black. The HVGA display provides 16 million colors and a resolution of 480 X 320 pixels. Transform’s digital VGA camera is front-facing with 3.2 megapixel resolution and flash. A microSD card slot allows you to expand the phone’s 2 GB memory card by an additional 32 GB providing plenty of room for high resolution photos or music files. The internal memory consists of 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM memory. Wireless interface is Bluetooth with IEEE 802.11 b/g protocol.

Samsung is offering the Transform at $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a two year service agreement from Sprint Nextel. The latter will provide text messaging, instant messages, internet browsing and Sprint TV. Sprint’s interface includes five home screens, three onscreen navigation buttons, and a Google search widget. The Sprint ID Pack features total customization for the wallpaper, widgets, shortcuts, and other settings. A total of 13 ID Packs are available with more planned in the future. The phone’s interface is thus highly customizable with a selection of pre-bundled ID Packs that make it easier to configure one’s home screen if the default screen is unappealing. The shortcuts can also appear in one’s email settings. Call quality on the Samsung Transform is excellent although the battery life may not be up to that offered by other higher range smartphones.

There is many accessories already on the market that will not only add style to your phone but will also provide it with the necessary protection required to keep it safe and secure. Accessories are not just for protection and style. Many customers, myself included, like having spare batteries around. I do not like it when im in the middle of using my phone and it dies. Accessories are must have items for any smart phone, and the best part is that you can find them anywhere and for really great prices.

The Samsung Transform offers quite a lot of features for its price range. With an attractive design and a front-facing camera, this phone is a great sell.. The Sprint ID service allows easy configuration of the home screen to one’s own preferences. The phone is furthermore scheduled for some important updates including an upgrade to Android 2.2. All in all, a smart pick for consumers looking for an affordable Android smart phone.
