Cutting your Cell Phone Bill

It’s now known that mobile phone users waste nearly £800 million annually by applying to incorrect contracts. A lot of mobile users either forget to use all their inclusive minutes and texts, meaning it could therefore be wiser to go on cheaper tariffs, or it’s at the opposite end in that users make much more use out of their mobile, exceeding their allowed minutes and texts, therefore paying out over the odds.

What cell phone users should carefully consider prior to signing a new contract is, how often are they likely to use their phone, what are they likely to be doing on their phone more often than not (making calls, writing and sending texts, picture messaging, using the web etc), and at what times are they likely to be performing these things on their phone (peak or off peak).

The first thing to bear in mind when looking for a fresh contract is whether you need a new phone or not. Do you require a new phone, or are you only after a new contract? There are plenty of new deals available on the market place which allow you to simply be given a new contract with sim card, forgetting all about the actual handset. This obviously impacts the price of the offer.

Yet another thing to consider is who will you mainly be calling, and what network are they on? If 99% of you’re calls will be made to T-Mobile customers, then it’ll probably be cheaper to go with them as calls to the same network as the one your on are usually cheaper than calling another mobile phone network provider.

Stated earlier, take into account when you will be more likely to make your calls. There are numerous deals out there which allow the first certain amount of minutes to any network to be free (perfect if you’re calling will probably be at random times), and there’s also other deals which specify free calls between a certain number of hours (6pm-12pm for example), perfect if you’re more likely to make all of your calls after work etc.

Lastly, as mentioned previously, what are you mainly likely to be using the phone for? If texting, then look for a deal allowing either unlimited texts to any network at any time, or a certain amount of free texts. If mainly internet browsing, again locate a deal with either unlimited data allowance, or a set amount for free. Pay special attention when it comes to internet data connection plans, as despite the fact that they can say unlimited, this is rarely the case, so specifically ask them if it is truly unlimited, or whether there is some kind of restriction.

I’m hoping you’ve found this article of use, and I truly hope it can help you in saving some cash.
